As we wrote about previously, June is a great month for music at the Stoney Badger Tavern. We have nine talented and fun bands lined up for the last two weekends of June and hope to see you at the shows!
Kicking off the second half of the month at the Badger is Mercy Creek on Thursday, June 20th. They recently played a great show at the Badger in April and we are happy to be welcoming them back. If you didn’t catch them the last show, they are an “aggressive folk rock” duo who perform all original music. The show starts at 7pm and there is no cover! On Friday, June 22nd the Po-Daddy’s will be playing. Cover will be $5. Rounding out the weekend is Big Something. They just played another awesome show at the Badger on May 18th and we are looking forward to seeing them again too, cover will be $6. They are a six piece funky alt rock group with “a BIG groove.” At any given show you will see some trumpet, saxophone, and keyboard along with a mean bass, guitar, and drums. They put on a truly fantastic show with The Harbor Band opening and we promise you will have a great time.
The last weekend in June at the Badger starts with Season 3. They are an indie rock trio, based in Lynchburg. Season 3 goes on at 7pm and there is no cover. On Friday, June 28th we have both Woodwork and BigFoot County taking the stage beginning at 9pm (cover is $7). Woodwork is a Virginia Beach based band who count Phish and the Grateful Dead among their influences. BigFoot County, a Grateful Dead tribute band, will close out the night. They are a five piece, Lynchburg based band formed in 2010; they often find themselves playing to a standing room only audience. If the Dead is your thing, then you need to come down and see their magic recreated.
Sons of Bill will be closing out the month of June at the Badger, headlining on Saturday, June 29th with Carl Anderson also taking the stage (cover is $15). Sons of Bill has been touring all along the east coast after being voted best band in Charlottesville for the last four years! They are a five piece alt-country band just on the cusp of making it big, with reviews like “REM cranked to 11” and “brilliant” you need to see what all the fuss is about.
As you can see, June promises to be an epic month of music at the Badger. Make sure to come on out, grab a drink and maybe a dance. We can’t wait to see you!
