Upcoming Live Music at Stoney Badger

For those of you who enjoy live music, Stoney Badger Tavern has some great bands lined up in the coming weeks. With music styling ranging from heavy metal to folky mountain music, our eclectic lineup truly has something for everyone!

Starting off the next couple weeks of shows at Stoney Badger is Big Leg Emma. You can find them on our stage on Thursday, May 23rd from 7pm to 10pm and there is no cover for this show! Big Leg Emma has been together since 2001 and they hail from Jamestown, New York. They are a six person band incorporating the mandolin and banjo into the traditional guitar, bass, and percussion line up. Self described as a “folk, bluegrass, country, psychedelic and contemporary rock” band who write their own music. To date, Big Leg Emma has released three cd’s and a dvd.

On Friday, May 24th, Mourn the Illusion will be on the Badger stage from 9:00pm until 1am (there is a $5 cover). They are a four person band covering some of our favorite songs from Metallica, Iron Maiden, Rage Against the Machine and many more! As of 2013, Mourn the Illusion is starting to venture into writing original music as well. This will be Mourn the Illusion’s first show in Lynchburg so be sure to check them out and give them a good ‘Burg welcome!

Chamomile & Whiskey, a five person ensemble, will be at the Stoney Badger on Saturday, May 25th with a $5 cover. Originating from Nelson County, Chamomile & Whiskey look to bring the feel of the Blue Ridge Mountains to its listeners. With its use of the fiddle, upright bass, banjo, and washboard the band’s sound brings a unique energy to the room. Chamomile & Whiskey are releasing their debut full length album, Wandering Boots, the night before the show so come support them and hear songs off their new record.

And last but certainly not least, closing out the Badger’s lineup for May is TC & The Kidd playing on Friday, May 31st. TC, otherwise known as Tommy Cox, and The Kidd (Pete Turpin) along with Steve Freeman, have played the Stoney Badger before and we are excited to have them back. Tommy is a guitar “phenom,” Pete can lay it out on the guitar and harpo and provides deep raspy vocals, and Steve rounds out their sound on guitar and vocals. The show is $5 and always promises to be a great time!
